At Sandbox Nursery, our daily rhythm is intentionally gentle, engaging, and rooted in respect for each child’s individuality. While we have a structure to guide our day, children are never pressured to participate in any one activity. Instead, we create a space where they feel safe, supported, and free to explore at their own pace.

What Sets Sandbox Nursery Apart

clock showing 8:30am

8:30 AM — Drop-Off & Welcome

Children arrive and settle in at their own pace. This is a calm transition into the day, where they are greeted warmly and can ease into the environment with free play or quiet activities.

clock showing 9am

9:00 AM — Morning Reflections

We gather together for about 10–20 minutes to share thoughts, feelings, or something special from the morning. Children may talk about their breakfast, a dream, or an idea they’re excited about. We also explore our word, color, number, or letter of the month. Children are encouraged to take the lead, and this time sets a calm and connected tone for the day.

9:30 AM — Morning Snack

A healthy, organic snack is served. We practice handwashing before and after eating, and encourage children to help set up and clean up.

clock showing 10.30am

10:30 AM — Activity Time

This is our main creative and sensory exploration period. Each day, a curated open-ended activity is offered — such as clay, painting, or sensory play with natural materials. Children are invited and encouraged to join, but never required.

If a child prefers something different, they may choose from a variety of enriching options:

  • Block station
  • Kitchen station
  • Painting easel
  • Clay table
  • Sandbox
  • Outdoor play in the grassy area

This approach supports both independence and group participation, with an emphasis on choice, curiosity, and joy.

12:00 PM — Lunch

Children gather for a nutritious lunch. We focus on self-help skills, handwashing, and group responsibility — children assist in setup and cleanup as part of the routine.

clock showing 1pm-3pm

1:00–3:00 PM — Nap/Rest Time

A peaceful, quiet space for rest. Soft music or white noise may play as children nap. Those who do not sleep may engage in quiet individual activities.

clock showing 3.30pm

3:30 PM — Afternoon Snack

Another light, healthy snack to help re-energize children after rest time.

clock showing 4pm

4:00 PM — Story Time

We gather for a group story, poem, or short mindfulness activity to wind down the afternoon.

clock showing 4.30pm

4:30 PM — Free Play & Exploration

Children choose from indoor or outdoor play, revisit earlier activities, or simply enjoy time with friends in a relaxed setting.

clock showing 5pm

5:00 PM — Pick-Up Begins

Families begin to arrive for pick-up. Children help tidy up and say goodbye at their own pace.

Additional Notes:

Throughout the day:

  • Diapers are checked and changed as needed.
  • Handwashing is practiced regularly.
  • Children take part in tidying up and caring for their space as a group. We value responsibility, teamwork, and respect for our environment.

Because we intentionally keep our group small, spots at Sandbox Nursery fill up quickly. Reserving a place ensures your child has the opportunity to grow and thrive in an environment where they’re truly seen and nurtured. With fewer children, we’re able to offer more individual attention, deeper connection, and a calmer, more responsive rhythm to each day.
